How Much Does a Sitting Wall Cost?

What's Under Our Sitting Walls

All of our sitting walls are built on a concrete footing. This concrete is mixed on-site using a mixture of sand, Portland cement, and water. First, we excavate 4-8 inches down and 12 inches wide and compact the soil. Then, we add the concrete footing and set the first course of the wall on top of it, ensuring that everything bonds together as one solid unit.

Installation

Once the patio heights are set, we begin determining the heights of the sitting wall, including paver sitting walls and patio sitting wall options. The team will decide whether to build the wall during or after the patio installation process. After the heights are confirmed, the crew will dig for the footings.

As a result, a typical footing for our sitting walls, such as paver and patio sitting walls, is about 6 inches deep with the first course set in concrete. Each subsequent course is glued to the next. This meticulous process ensures both structural integrity and a visually appealing finish.

Design

Depending on the Wallstone you choose, designs can vary. When selecting a cap, you have the option of choosing from a variety of concrete products from Cambridge or natural stones like bluestone. Firstly, when designing curved walls, it’s important to consider that both sides of the wall may need to be cut, which can increase the time, material, and overall cost. Additionally, sitting walls are most commonly built to be 18-22 inches tall to provide the most comfortable sitting position.

Types

There are many different types of seat walls, with the primary difference being the material you choose. Virtually all materials can be built into similar designs, although some may require more labor than others. Some of the most common materials we use are from Cambridge, including Olde English Wall and Maytrx Wall, as well as cultured stone. Olde English Wall and cultured stone are typically used for straight or non-curved walls, while Maytrx Wall stone can be used for both straight and curved applications. Seat walls can be designed like benches or even like sofas that have back support.
